Marta Maria Diaz, Esq.

Marta Maria Diaz, who joined Wilkes Legal, LLC as an Associate Attorney in March 2026, is an immigration attorney dedicated to empowering clients through compassionate, high-quality representation. Ms. Diaz represents immigrants before the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Department of State. Her expertise covers a broad spectrum of family-based and humanitarian matters, including consular processing, adjustment of status, naturalization, asylum, removal defense, U and T visas, VAWA self-petitions, NACARA, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, as well as P-3 visas. Before joining Wilkes Legal, Ms. Diaz founded her own solo practice, Diaz Immigration Law where she built a distinguished reputation for providing empathetic, client-centered representation while maintaining a strong track record of winning cases.

Ms. Diaz’ professional journey in immigration law began well before she became an attorney, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of the field from multiple perspectives. Prior to law school, she gained foundational experience at a corporate immigration firm working on H-1B and L visas, a role she continued full-time while in law school. Seeking to diversify her expertise, she later transitioned to a boutique firm specializing in asylum and complex family-based matters.

Beyond her private practice experience, Ms. Diaz has demonstrated a deep commitment to humanitarian efforts and community service. She interned at Hogar Immigrant Services - CCDA, a prominent non-profit organization serving Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and volunteered at the border in Harlingen, Texas, with the South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project (ProBAR) to assist adult detainees. This combination of high-level corporate experience and boots-on-the-ground advocacy defines her well-rounded approach to immigration law today.

Ms. Diaz holds a Juris Doctor from George Mason Law School, a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Villanova University. Licensed in the District of Columbia, she is a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She is fluent in Spanish, possesses an intermediate to advanced command of Italian, and has a functional knowledge of Brazilian Portuguese.
