Marisa V. Tillman, Esq.
Marisa Victoria Tillman joined Wilkes Legal, LLC as an Associate Attorney in March 2026, bringing with her a remarkable background in immigration law. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Tillman served as an immigration attorney at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington and, before that, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
Ms. Tillman has accumulated over five years of experience in the practice of immigration law, representing clients in a broad range of matters, including asylum, U visas, T visas, petitions under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), naturalization, removal defense, family-based petitions, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals. She additionally represents families pursuing Special Immigrant Juvenile Status in custody and guardianship proceedings before the Maryland Circuit Courts.
Ms. Tillman is deeply committed to social justice and the advancement of immigrant rights in the United States. She has developed particular expertise in matters involving Unaccompanied Children and survivors of crime, abuse, and domestic violence.
Ms. Tillman holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School and a Master of Public Policy from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and International Relations from Bethel University. During her legal studies, Ms. Tillman served as a certified student attorney and Student Director of the Detainee Rights Clinic within the James H. Binger Center for New Americans, during which time she presented oral arguments before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She was also recognized as a Robina Public Interest Scholar, a Human Rights Center Fellow, and a Minnesota Justice Foundation Fellow. Ms. Tillman was awarded concentration honors in immigration law, as well as the Mondale Hall Engagement Award in recognition of her extensive participation in immigration-related volunteer internships and clerkships. Ms. Tillman is licensed to practice law in Maryland and is fluent in Spanish and Tagalog.
