Carrie Russell joined Wilkes Legal, LLC in 2017 from the Children’s Advocacy Clinic at Penn State Dickinson School of Law where she was a visiting professor of clinical law. In that role, she supervised law students representing children in dependency and custody proceedings, facilitated policy advocacy, lectured on children’s advocacy, public policy and legal writing, and conducted scholarly research.

Prior to teaching at Penn State Dickinson School of Law, Ms. Russell focused on environmental justice policy and litigation as a staff attorney and consultant for non-profit organizations.  In that capacity, she helped low income communities, especially neighborhoods with high percentages of minority and immigrant residents, gain access to healthy air and clean water.  Ms. Russell worked at the Conservation Law Foundation from 2004 to 2009. She maintained a consulting practice in Pennsylvania from 2009 until 2017 while serving as a board member of her local Watershed Association and Land Conservancy.

Previously, Ms. Russell worked at the Law Office of Heidi J. Meyers in New York City, a full-service immigration law firm, where she prepared asylum applications for individuals from across the globe.

Ms. Russell is an experienced litigator, a highly skilled writer, and a passionate advocate for her clients. She is committed to serving clients with the highest level of professionalism, compassion, and excellence. At Wilkes Legal, Ms. Russell supports the firm’s appellate and litigation practices, authoring legal briefs and memoranda, and preparing filings in support of clients’ cases and appeals.

Ms. Russell is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Columbia University. She is a member of the Pennsylvania and Massachusetts bars.
